Food is awesome

So I have no idea why I didn't do this earlier...But we can request meals to go from the cafe as long as we do it ahead of time. Since I'm going snowboarding tomorrow, I decided to try this out.

I asked for breakfast and lunch!

Chicken Caesar Salad and a bag of goodies!

Bagel with cream cheese for breakfast, orange juice, an orange, apple, water, oreos and a granola bar. Oh, and chips!

I'm very excited :) Also, the bagel is toasted with Bacon Scallion Cream Cheese. My Favorite!
I think I'm going to start doing this more often...Specifically on days where I don't really have time for lunch!

Wet socks suck!

Once I put on socks, I expect to get a good amount of use from them in that day. This is usually fine. What isn't fine is when I walk into the bathroom, and there is water on the floor. Now, I realize that its the bathroom, and it is perfectly normal for water to be on the floor.
But that isn't the point. Socks still get wet. But this actually has not been an issue for me recently.

This is the issue:

When I return from snowboarding at around 5PM, I take a shower. Then, I have to go to dinner. I don't really want to put on a new pair of socks just to get to dinner, because its a waste. Then they wont be fresh anymore, and that isn't any fun. So, what I've actually done a couple of times is to simply wear flip flops. Yes, I do realize that its the middle of winter, and there is snow on the ground. Oh well, I just dont want to wear a new pair of socks. So there.

Being sick stinks!

So, I've had a pretty crummy week because I've been sick with a really annoying cold. Everyone is getting sick with something random. That sucks, but it's what happens!

So, what else is knew... It's snowing a lot right now, and I'm pretty happy about it. I should be going snowboarding tomorrow, so the conditions should be great. Only one week left until spring break, which is kind of crazy.

I have no idea what else to say. I hate when this happens. I always run out of things to say when I actually get the chance to sit down and write.

Yesterday, Danielle and I went on a mini-adventure to Gilbane parking lot to return Kaisey's car. Champlain just opened their new Lakeside building, which mostly houses offices, but there are some classrooms for students in Continuing Professional Studies. Anyway, now there's a waiting area for the shuttle bus. Before, you'd kinda sit in the sketchy parking lot. Now, you can get into the lobby of the building by scanning your ID. I'll have to get better pictures of it the next time I go back. Did I mention this happened at 11:30PM?

Anyway, the bus driver was interesting to say the least, but he was nice, and dropped us off right in front of Bankus, so we didn't have to walk.

Jenn was sick and stayed over with Kaisey, so I joined her in being sick. I think things went well seeing as both of us are more or less feeling better now.

I got out of work two hours early today because of the snow. Not sure how I feel about that, but I'm looking forward to the weekend!!!

Yay! I love notes

Ice :(

Today was an annoying day to go to the mountain. The trails were all icy. I managed to find slightly better conditions at Lincoln Peak, but when I went back to Mt. Ellen, I literally went down the mountain sitting down. It was that bad. I would have walked, but I was afraid to slip and fall even harder (since I wouldn't be able to catch myself as well when holding my snowboard).

On a good note, I had the North Cheesesteak at Glen House, which is halfway up Mt. Ellen. It was very good. I like the houses on the actual slopes. They're fun.
Here's a trail map. http://www.sugarbush.com/images/skiandride/trailmap0910large.jpg
I've been pretty much everywhere this season, except for Castlerock Peak, because I have not started tackling the black diamonds yet. Also, the conditions would have to be better.

So, yeah. That's that. Hopefully it will be better next time I head out there. Which I hope is soon!

*Looks for a picture*

It's the little things that make you happy...

This post might be short on the text, but I hope I can make up for it in pictures...

It starts with a weirdly addressed package...
With a note telling me that there are two hidden messages
So, I carefully remove the shipping label to reveal this cartoon
And then I remove the cartoon to reveal this note ("Love from us")
Finally, I get to open the box, only to find two more boxes...
These are awesome! Cookies with a hint of lemon
And...Brownies!!!
I wasn't in the greatest mood this afternoon, but I'm much happier now
:]

Love,
Benjamin

Always remember to double check things!

Yes, yes, I know, I'm horrible about being up to date with my blog. There are often things that I want to write, but I dont have the patience to actually sit down and write them.

And then there are things that I plan to write, but they spiral out of hand, and become too complicated to explain.
For instance, this week, I got into another three-day argument with amazon because of their flawed gift certificate system. I saved all the chat logs that I had with them, because I had planned to post them so you could see the things I deal with, but then it went on for longer than It should have. I think you all would get bored. If you are that bored and want to read the communication records that I have had, let me know, and maybe I'll put them together in some easy to read manner.

Long story short, it involved some stupid technical flaw relating to the way that gift certificates are applied. My balance was being applied to one of my subscribe and save orders that wouldnt ship until march, and it wouldnt apply to the order i wanted to place on Wednesday.
Then here's what happened in bullet form

  • My order was guaranteed for friday, but as they were working on it, it got bumped to monday.
  • i asked them to change it to one day shipping, at no additional charge
  • friday comes, and i never got the package. It was never shipped for some reason
  • I contact them again. after much hassle, and tons of confusion, they decide to only charge me the price of shipping ($4). I'm fine with this, as the original order was $11 without shipping.
  • im waiting for it to get here monday.
Now, this sounds all easy and fine, but I assure you, it was obnoxiously complicated, and took me several hours to fix. Blah. Whatever.

Friday was payday. That's good. See, it's not really about the money, because I'm not going to spend it; but the feeling of receiving the check in return for working makes me happy. It is weird, because working makes me happy just like that, but the fact that I get a check makes it official. I walked down to TD Bank in town today to deposit my check. This is probably the first time I've deposited a check in an ATM. I usually go to the teller, mainly because I have no idea what my account number is, so I can't write it on the deposit slip. But that ATM has envelope-free deposits.

Okay, what's next? I went snowboarding all day Saturday, which was awesome. I can feel myself getting better every time I go down the mountain. The conditions were pretty good too. When I went to the peak in the morning, you couldn't see further than ten feet, which is kinda scary when you are that high up, and do not know the terrain that well. But it was all good. I had a ton of fun. The only problem is that when I got back, I was completely wiped out. At one point, I literally crawled into 303, because I could not gather enough energy to get up.

So, I had a lazy evening. I was tired, and getting ready to go to bed. I guess it must have been like 12:30 in the morning. But, Kaisey (my RA), had some friends over, and one of them decided to drop by to let me know that she had sneezed in her wonton soup, and therefore I could not have any. And then we moved on to talking about technology, and complete randomness. Since her name was Jenn, and rhymed with my name, that boosted us to best friend status instantly. Or so she says. Jenn also says that her town invented the graham cracker...

Long story short, Kaisey, Jenn, Danielle and I ended up watching classic youtube videos, such as squirrels beatboxing until about 2:30AM. I went to sleep at 3.

Now, you're probably thinking that this was a long, obnoxious and boring post. Well, that's too bad. I didn't really need you to read this anyway. So there.

Oh, you want a picture?

Here is a two mile long chairlift, that lasts 15 minutes, and takes you between two mountain peaks. And no, that isn't the other peak over there, it's just a hill.

This week is going fast...

Or at least I think it is...

I wouldn't really know. It's been snowy. Not crazy, but nice random snow. I like it. I don't have much to say, but I felt that I should write anyway. It was not too thrilling of a day, actually. Class was meh, and then work was slow. There were about 50 calls in the entire day, and I probably only got about 8 of those. What else is there do say? I got my almonds today, which is my good, healthy snack. And, yeah, thats pretty much it. I miss everyone, and all the food places of NY, but I'm good :) See you guys soon!!!

Oh, and today was survey day in the cafe, and I won a T-Shirt... My strategy was to put my ticket in the bowl for the largest sized item of clothing-because less people want those. So, I put it in for an XXL Champlain shirt...and I won! I'll have to go pick it up tomorrow. Hehehe

My almonds!

Snowy Saturday!

I went snowboarding today, and it was absolutely awesome! I went to the top of Lincoln Peak at Sugarbush, and at one point, it was so windy, I was afraid I would get blown down towards the expert terrain. From that point, I walked along the narrow path until the slope. Here's what it looked like.
The path I walked along on the peak
Directly to my left-Where the wind was blowing me towards
Anyway, I loved it. It was so awesome, and I get so much speed. Anyway, the awesome Bankus Crew set up a mini-terrain park out front, so, we have special guest Sam Rogers here to teach everyone how to be steezy!

Yup!
It's snowing really hard out, and it's good heavy snow. It's sticking on the trees, and it looks super awesome!
Also, Kayla was around before this video, and if she hadn't run away, maybe she would have gotten some coverage!

Huzzah!

Yes, It's been a while. I'm sorry

I know that I'm slacking at updating my blog. But I've been genuinely busy. As you may know, I have a fairly full schedule. I enjoy my classes, and I enjoy work. I usually get upset when I have to leave work to go to class. See, being at work, you get to be super productive, and help people out, and get things done. I like that.

Its amazing how often I remember people who call on the phone that I've talked to before. Today, two people called that I recognized by voice alone. Thats kinda crazy. Other people, as soon as they give me their last name, I know their first name, and what they called about last time. And then there are times when parents call, and they say something like "my daughter came in and spoke to someone about...." and I'll be like, "Yes, I did speak to your daughter"

It's snowing today/tonight. We're supposed to get up to 16 inches. Everyone wants the school to close. It's only closed twice in the 14 years that one of my co-workers has been here. However, a bunch of classes will probably be cancelled. Maybe one of mine will be. I don't really know what I would do if my class was cancelled. Oh well. Hmm, what to say? I have no idea...
Too bad!

Oh, I have a goal of filming the next evacuation drill. Although if they think 10 degree weather is an appropriate time to conduct a drill, I'm going to have a nice conversation with Campus Safety.

The bathroom with the light off..
